45 Relationship Expectations Quotes

The following collection of quotes is all about relationship expectations.

It’s an interesting concept of what we expect from others – and how we need to respect ourselves in a relationship. To avoid disappointment and resentment, its beneficial to set standards of what you and your partner need and want from a relationship and to communicate this well together.

What are normal expectations in a relationship?

Different people will have different expectations of what they want or need in their relationships. Overall though, shared values and strong communication are an essential starting point.

It’s said that we ‘teach’ others how to treat us. We show them by what we’re willing to accept and not accept. It’s not just the ‘big stuff’,  but in all the little interactions, the ability to communicate and set standards that both people are comfortable with and to respect ourselves enough to communicate when we’re not happy.

Relationships are dynamic and ever-changing. For this reason, there really is no one definition of what constitutes ‘normal’ relationship expectations. What can be said for certain, however, is that it’s often best when both partners try to meet in the middle – respecting both themselves and each other.

The following quotes all touch on the concepts of relationships, respect, expectations of others, setting standards , honoring yourself and the joy of sharing your life with another.
