4 Powerful Speeches About Life Challenges

Speeches about life challenges

In the past we’ve included inspiring and motivation speeches. Some short and some longer:

In this post, I’m going to show you 4 inspiring speeches, specifically about facing challenges in life. And more importantly, how you can move forward from them.

Because we all have them at times.

Maybe you’re going through a tough time right now. And you’re not looking for sympathy. You’re not even looking for examples of worse problems than yours – so that yours will seem insignificant.

You need a dose of inspiration. And hope. A reminder even, that it’s just a point in time right now and that things will improve.

This collection is great if you’re going through a challenge right now.

Let’s get started:

1. ‘The Best Gift I Ever Received’ Stacey Kramer

The power of perspective. A very quick, yet powerful speech from Stacey Kramer on how to take the good from a very scary situation.

2. “A broken body isn’t a broken person” Janine Shepherd

Cross-country skier Janine Shepherd was busy training for an Olympic medal when she was hit by a truck while out riding. She shares a powerful story about the human potential for recovery.

Physically and mentally.

Just some of the great aspects of Janine’s talk is being grateful, the friendships and connections that she made with those in the same situation as her, her enthusiasm for a full life and about having to change directions in life:

“being at rock bottom is the perfect place to start”

“but then I knew for certain, that although my body may be limited, it was my spirit that was unstoppable”

When you let go of what you are, you become what you might be.  Lao Tzu

3. ‘The Fringe Benefits of Failure’ J.K. Rowling

I’m sure you’ve heard the amazing rags to riches story of successful author J.K Rowling. Well it’s not hard to see why she has been such a success with her words, because this speech is truly inspiring.

Rowling talks about the benefits of failure. How it forced her hand towards her passion and dreams and how it’s taught her the most valuable life lessons.

Just some of the great J.K Rowling quotes from this speech:

“Had I really succeeded at anything else I might never have found the determination to succeed in the one arena where I believed in which I truly belonged. I was set free. Because my greatest fear had been realised, and I was still alive……and so rock bottom became a solid foundation on which I rebuilt my life.”

“It is impossible to live without failing at something, unless you live so cautiously that you might as well not have lived at all – in which case, you fail by default.”

“You will never truly know yourself, or the strength of your relationships, until both have been tested by adversity. Such knowledge is a true gift, for all that it is painfully won, and it has been worth more than any qualification I ever earned.”

4. ‘Asking for help is a strength, not a weakness’ Michele L. Sullivan

We all go through challenges in life – some you can see, most you can’t.

In a talk about perspective, Michele Sullivan shares stories full of wit and wisdom and reminds us that we’re all part of each other’s support systems.

“None of us are what you can see, there’s more to us than that, and we’re all dealing with things that you cannot see.”

“The only shoes you can walk in are your own,” she says. “With compassion, courage and understanding, we can walk together, side by side.”

I hope you enjoy them as much as I have.
